6 - 10 September 2017 From classical crossover and minimal soundscapes to modern composition with (live) electronics. Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents the newest music by young music pioneers during the eponymous and highly renowned music festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
After the succesful collaboration with Save the bassoon, the Grachtenfestival and Gaudeamus Muziekweek join forces again with a new call for compositions. Composers between 10 and 35 years of age, living or studying in the Netherlands, are invited to write new work for solo accordion.
Write for Vincent
The Grachtenfestival and Gaudeamus Muziekweek invite young composers to write music for the talented
accordionist Vincent van Amsterdam (1989). Please submit a composition outline for solo accordion of max
1 minute, together with a midi-file of mentioned outline. A selection of the competing entries will be made
in due course. Contenders will get the chance to play with Vincent van Amsterdam at the Reading Sessions,
where selected entries will be performed and judged.
And what’s next?
Does Vincent see potential in the excerpt? Do you two get along? Then there is a chance that you can
complete your composition and have it premiered at the Grachtenfestival and during Gaudeamus
Grachtenfestival DeOpmaat February 13
Use the opportunity and ask Vincent everything you need to know about the accordion and visit
Grachtenfestival DeOpmaat on February 13. He will answer all your questions and you can listen to the
possibilities and limitations of the instrument
